We are pleased to announce the International Conference on International Law and Diplomacy in the Black Sea Region, focusing on the theme: „Legal Perspectives and Practices for Ukraine’s Reconstruction”, to be held on October 15, 2024 at Club Floreasca, Bucharest, Romania. This event brings together diplomats, practitioners, scholars and policymakers to explore the legal frameworks and diplomatic strategies essential to rebuilding Ukraine in the aftermath of conflict.
Conference Themes: We invite paper submissions that address the following topics, though other relevant themes may also be considered:
Legal Responsibility for the Reconstruction of Ukraine
- The International Legal and Economic Framework for Post-Conflict Reconstruction – Romania’s Role in the Reconstruction of Ukraine
- Legal Instruments for Financing the Reconstruction of Ukraine
- Russia’s Criminal Liability for the Destruction Caused in Ukraine
- Ecocide – The Special Issue in the Process of Ukraine’s Reconstruction
- Defining and Legally Framing Ecocide in the Context of Ukraine
- Identifying Legal and Ecological Solutions to Address the Damage and Negative Effects of Ecocide, Including in Neighboring Countries Like Romania and Moldova
- Genocide Committed Through the Forced Relocation of Ukrainian Children to Russia
- The Concept of Genocide and Its Applicability in the Cases of Forced Relocation of Ukrainian Children to Russia
- The International Community’s Involvement in Protecting Human Rights in the Context of the War in Ukraine
- Legal and Diplomatic Measures Regarding the Observance of International Humanitarian Law
Submission Guidelines:
We welcome submissions from academics, legal professionals, and policymakers. Papers may include theoretical studies, case analyses, or practical examples of legal and diplomatic interventions in conflict and post-conflict scenarios. Articles on various topics in the field of public international law may also be accepted for publication in the Conference volume.
- Abstract Submission Deadline: September 30, 2024
- Full Paper Submission Deadline: October 10, 2024
- Notification of Acceptance: October 1, 2024
Abstracts should be 300-500 words in length and should include the title of the paper, author’s name, affiliation, and contact information.
Submission Process: Please submit your abstracts and full papers to office@ccbru.ro
Conference Format: The conference will include keynote addresses, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions. Selected papers will be featured in Panel I: Legal Responsibility for Ukraine’s Reconstruction, Panel II: Ecocide and Environmental Restoration, and Panel III: Genocide and Forced Relocation.
